YouVersion Bible App

I am a HUGE fan of the mobile Bible app called YouVersion.  This is an e-mail I got from them today.  You can use this application on your computer or laptop.  But what's even more awesome is that they have a mobile version of this app for nearly every platform available:  droid, iPhone, Blackberry, and more.  Read below to see how many translations are available and even more awesome information about YouVersion.  Oh, and my favorite thing about it is how it gives you a wonderfully accessible and useful way to keep you on a Bible reading plan.  If you have not tried to read the Bible through in a year or have tried and dropped off (like I have done many times), check out the ESSENTIAL 100 reading plan below.  If you start it now, it will get you through the Bible highlights in 100 days or by the end of 2011.  Pretty cool stuff.  Create a free log-in today and get in the Word!!!

It's YouVersion's Birthday!

On September 27, 2007, YouVersion launched as an online Bible with just 7 translations. We wanted to build an interactive Bible where God's unchanging Word could be layered with constantly updated contributions like videos and blog posts. Then on April 29, 2008, YouVersion announced our first mobile version, and our whole world changed. The YouVersion community quickly discovered that having the Bible on our phones helped us read more. YouVersion multiplied into a worldwide community, with nearly 30 million unique installs, 152 translations in 45 languages, more than 190 reading plans, and personalized features we couldn't imagine back in 2007. Did You Know…

...Besides using the Bible App to read your Bible, you can have the Bible App actually read it to you? Listen while you drive, work, exercise—even read along! A speaker icon means the version you're reading has audio available. Just tap that icon to see audio controls. If your current version doesn't have audio, tap the current version's "short code" (abbreviation). A list of all available versions displays. The ones with speakers next to them offer audio. You'll find audio versions in several languages: English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian—even Chinese—to name just a few. Check your preferred language to find your new favorite listening Bible! (Coming soon to Windows Phone, too.)

Building a Better Bible App

We're constantly working to make the Bible App easier, more accessible, and more useful on every platform. For example, just as with your favorite paper Bible, now you can use highlights to mark passages that speak to you in a special way. Simply tap the verse(s) you want to highlight, tap the Share icon, and choose a color—now your verse will be easy to spot again later as a reminder!
